The Day After
June 13, 1993

Guns N' Roses went directly to their hotel after
Saturday's show on the Olympic Stadium of Stockholm. There they took a shower and went to
bed. The Americans did a café tour during the Sunday. Duff McKagan, Gilby Clarke and Matt
Sorum went to Hardrock Café in company with 15 lifeguards and technicians. The trio
ordered their brunch, consisting burgers and fries, and it soon started happen things
around their table. If you play in the world's largest hardrock band, you don't go to
Hardrock Café without someone noticing. It soon was crowded by fans around the table who
wanted autographs or just shake hands with their heroes. And the heroes took the
excitement calmly. They took a bite and signed some autographs, and then another bite and
signing some more. But it ain't always easy to be a star. Duff McKagan couldn't even be
alone on the toilet.
What about Axl and Slash then?
Axl hasn't been visable since the last encore on the stadium. Slash made a couple of
excursions during the sunday. To the kiosk. There he bought apples and bananas. The girls
screamed and kissed the car (!) he sat in and when he got back from his short trip, he
almost got assaulted. The fans threw themselves after him, some got grip of his hair,
which made the guitar-hero to do some giant-steps to quickly get in to the hotel lobby.
During the evening about 30 fans waited faithfully outside the hotel. They got to see Matt
Sorum going to the kiosk, and the guitarist Gilby Clarke and the keyboardist Dizzy Reed
went for supper at an Italian restaurant. Then there was party at the hotel room, yet
without any smashing of TVs.
- No scandals yet, reported the reception. At two a.m. disappeared Gilby
Clarke and Dizzy Read in direction for Café Opera. At the café they sat surrounded by
four or five life guards and approximately the double number of girls and drank beer.
Without anyone realy noticing them. More then one girl that suddenly exclaimed:
Look, Slash! And pointed towards a big colored man with short hair and
baseball cap. You can't always be right. |
